Marinated tempeh

To vary the sources of protein (because you have to eat something other than red meat), I like to marinate (the day before or a few hours before) tempeh cut into medium pieces in: maple syrup, soy sauce, a few drops of liquid smoke, garlic and onion powders, hot sauce that I have on hand and a little neutral vegetable oil. Tempeh absorbs all the marinade; so you have to put enough marinade, especially if you want to have as much flavor as possible! Maple syrup provides a nice caramelization during cooking, which is not negligible! Serve with some seasonal grilled vegetables, lots of herbs and jasmine rice, it’s a hell of a meal!
